Richard Roorda (1950-2007)

We were saddened to learn that Rich Roorda died Saturday, November 3, of a massive heart attack. Rich and Janet were Yellowstone Place residents until earlier this year, when they sold their home at #215 and moved to Belle Fourche.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, at the Christian Life Center. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, at the Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Belle Fourche Ambulance and the Children's Cancer Institute. Friends may sign the on-line guestbook created by the funeral home.

A native of Hollandale, Minnesota, Rich grew up on the family farm and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1969. He attended Mankato State University. Rich married Janet Pluimer in 1969. They had two children, Heidi and Lucas. For more than 20 years, Rich was involved with sales, first with Turbiville Electric and then with KSLT Christian radio He began work with AFLAC in 2003.
